Description
Summary:In this article we explore the controversy, registered in the plural field of Argentine liberalism, that Federico Pinedo y Alvaro Alsogary held between 1958 and 1973 with developmentalisms, particularly with ECLAC economic structuralism. From the analysis of a corpus of documents published in those years, we seek to show that in Argentine developmentalist ideas were discussed from neoliberal points of view almost simultaneously of its disclosure. We argue, also, that in the formulations of these two authors neoliberalism acquired meanings that were configured both in relation to a series of adversarial discourses circulating in the same situation as in relation to a set of other discourses in which, in the context of the controversy with developmentalisms, neoliberal positions found a foothold. Finally, this article pose the question, and bring some elements for a possible answer, about the importance that assumed the controversy with developmentalisms for the establishment of differentiations, both within the liberal camp and the economics profession.
