Summary:This article is the result of a study that is still in development, which includes the analysis of secondary sources of information and data from THEMIS Project – Theorising the Evolution of European Migration Systems. The later provided some “clues” for the research which aims to deepening the knowledge and understanding of international mobility patterns of Brazilian students in higher education in Portugal. It is intended, therefore, to analyze the macro, meso and micro factors that can be responsible for this type of mobility, as well as to explain the choice of the territory of destination and the plans for other types of future migration.
