Summary: | INTRODUCTION[|]Food safety and security is important in the process of continuous physical and economic access to sufficient, healthy, reliable and nutritious food in order to meet the nutritional needs, food priorities that people need to live an active, and healthy life at all times. Here, food security is expressed in terms of availability, accessibility, usability and stability.[¤]METHODS[|]In this study, the sufficient of supply and demand for wheat and corn as basic grain products and its possible situation especially during the epidemic process are discussed.[¤]RESULTS[|]In the study, in ensuring food security in Turkey, wheat and maize production in the face of increasing population and the availability of the pandemic in size and wavy structure was found to be followed by the price increase in retail sales. It can be stated that as a result of the import due to the demand for quality wheat. Wheat may pose a risk in terms of the self- sufficiency degree of the product. Turkey is the country that cannot be self-sufficient in maize products. Its supply cannot be met by domestic production in maize and imports continue. On the other hand, the main problem of our country's food security is experienced in terms of accessibility to food.[¤]DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION[|]In Turkey, it is not equitable income distribution, especially poverty, inequality in income distribution, increasing access to agricultural inputs and food prices have negatively affected cereal production in this process. Therefore, in order to ensure food safety, it is necessary to increase domestic quality production and to support the sustainability of producers and production[¤]
