description This paper considers the finite-time cluster synchronization (FTCS) problem for a general class of nonlinear coupled neural networks (NCNN) with time-varying delays based on a new finite-time analysis method. By employing the theories of finite-time control and Lyapunov functional, novel sufficient conditions on FTCS of NCNN with transmission delays and coupled delays are proposed. Not resembling several previous results, the settling time estimation schemes are established without using classical finite-time stability lemmas. The new finite-time analysis method used in this paper combines the inequality method and Lyapunov functional theory and then obtains corresponding results according to the definition of finite-time stability. Furthermore, the results of proposed FTCS are obtained in a more general framework, which has a wider range of practical applications. Finally, a numerical example is presented to confirm the validity of the obtained control scheme.
