description | This article presents a critical comparison of theatre writing in two parts of the Latin American continent: northern Chile and northern Mexico. These spaces, relegated to the periphery of artistic and cultural production, are the repositories of works about the desert and the frontier as places of creation and a conceptual universe that we will call the dramaturgies of the desert. Observing these spaces through two representative monologues from each country, Ilegala by Virginia Hernández and Partir by Ronald Heim, will allow us to measure their aesthetic impact on current Latin American theatre. |
