description This article examines the various transnational measures taken by the Argentine government and police between 1889 and 1913 to deal with anarchism, particularly, those measures that had the Spanish case as benchmark. Even though the close links between the Spanish and Argentine anarchist movements are well attested, little is known about how such links affected and were affected by political repression. This paper shows that these factors are inseparable, suggesting, at the same time, that a narrow focus on Argentine anarchism – the usual approach among contemporary historians - is insufficient to assess the effect of international actions aimed at curbing anarchism in the city of Buenos Aires.
