Description
Summary:This article briefly presents the main results of research on painkiller use as well as methods and techniques used to cope with pain in sport. It involves identifying how sportsmen and their pharmaco-medical staff deal with, negotiate and treat pain during their careers. Three stages, each involving several pain relationships, drug types and analgesic techniques, will be distinguished. In sport, painkiller use skillfully borders the frontier between performance and therapeutic activity, between body and mind, getting its second wind from the advent of Mental Training, enhancing, as this article shows, the potential of its effects and aspirations.
