description The study aims to analyze the factors related to organizational culture that assist in knowledge management processes, helping to generate competitive advantage in the companies of metal-mechanic sector. Therefore, a quantitative survey data collection strategy was performed by applying a structured questionnaire in a sample of 63 employees from 13 companies in the metal-mechanic sector. The results were analyzed using multiple regression and indicate that the studied segment, learning and trust are positive and significant predictors of knowledge management. Thus, it can be inferred that the companies that stimulate its employees to learn and invest in maintaining confidence among members of the organization may achieve better performance in knowledge management. Finally, the results also expose that the knowledge management directly influences the performance and organizational effectiveness, demonstrating that the use and sharing of tacit and explicit knowledge are generating competitive advantage to competitors.
