Summary:The purpose of the article is to analyze the role of “new media” in modern political conflicts on the basis of statistical data. The theoretical significance of the work is associated with the justification of various information and communication technologies, the use of which increases the opportunities for their application in political reality. On the basis of the analysis and synthesis of terrorist organizations’ activities in the “new media” the reasons of public susceptibility to information influence are revealed. The authors come to the conclusion that “new media” become direct participants of information wars. Besides, they significantly surpass traditional media in the context of information and propaganda activities.
