description
The article devoted to risky sexual behavior describes the situation regarding the spread of HIV/AIDS in the Russian Federation. In the first part based on analysis of data from Rosstat (Federal State Statistics Service) and Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation the dynamics of epidemiological situation of STD and HIV morbidity rate is shown. It was revealed that the main difficulties of the situation are: a change in the structure of urogenital diseases – against the background of a general decrease in the incidence of sexual infections, there is an increasing tendency in the incidence of viral STDs; the decrease in the growth of new cases of HIV recorded in the last two years is largely due to the change in the recording method, and not a reduction in the total number of cases; noted is the exceedance of HIV-infection of the limits of vulnerable groups of the population.
The paper analyzes the main ways of spreading HIV, as well as the characteristics of key population groups vulnerable to HIV infection: injecting drug users (IDUs), men who have sex with men (MSM) and commercial sex workers (CSW). It has been established that at present there is a tendency toward redistribution of the proportion of infection cases from IDUs to heterosexuals. At the same time, high stigmatization of the MSM group leads to a decrease in the number of requests for preventive services and medical care, as a consequence of which the prevalence of HIV infection in these groups may be significantly underestimated.
