description Italian Law n. 170/2010 clarified the characteristics of the Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), as well as the needed interventions that the school must operate to provide the supports to these students. In particular, the 2013 Guidelines required the Regions to coordinate the implementation of practices for early identification. After reviewing the legislative path, the article presents the Protocol drawn up in the Aosta Valley, discussing the theoretical choices, the implemented system, the methodology of intervention and the results of the monitoring process. Teachers show difficulties in a process of identification of inter-individual differences and of their impact on the development.   Partire dai criteri diagnostici dei DSA per effettuare l’identificazione precoce. La proposta di Protocollo della Valle d’Aosta La L. n. 170/2010, ha fatto chiarezza intorno alle caratteristiche dei DSA e agli interventi che la scuola deve approntare per accogliere gli alunni che presentano queste difficoltà. Le Linee Guida del 2013 hanno richiesto alle Regioni di coordinare la realizzazione di prassi per l’identificazione precoce. Dopo una rassegna sul percorso legislativo, l’articolo presenta il Protocollo stilato in Valle d’Aosta, discutendone le scelte teoriche, l’impianto realizzato, la metodologia di intervento e gli esiti del monitoraggio. Emergono difficoltà da parte degli insegnanti nel processo di identificazione delle differenze inter-individuali e del loro impatto sullo sviluppo e l’apprendimento.
