| Summary: | One of the sources of the competitive advantage of domestic educational systems is the quality of the education and therefore, one of the basic obligations imposed on Polish educational facilities by the provisions of law concerning higher education is the implementation of the effective internal education quality assurance system. The component of such a system must be the implemented processes for monitoring, measuring and assessing the effectiveness of the system, by the means of adequate tools which enable to identify the needs to improve the system and to take improving actions. One of such tools, applied in quality management systems in accordance with ISO 9001, is an internal audit. The aim of the article is to present the internal audit as a tool for improving the quality management system implemented in Gdynia Maritime University, as well as to discuss the results of the internal audits conducted at the Faculty of Entrepreneurship and Quality Science in years 2008–2016. |
