Each case study examines the underlying theories of masculinity, gender and gender change at work in these interventions and assesses the forms and impacts of these interventions. The article concludes with a reflection of the political and conceptual limitations of gender transformation work undertaken in the context of HIV, and on the need to complement ideological arguments for “gender transformation” with more embodied opportunities for transformed gendered practice. |
