A practice of distance teaching based on participant observation ----- Abstract --- The article examines a distance learning practice (dad) implemented within two university courses of cultural anthropology held online in 2020. Students were asked to carry out an exercise with the aim of approaching the participatory observation methodology. The activity, conditioned by the state of health emergency of those months, in many cases has turned into an ethnographic experience through which students reasoned about their daily lives. The data collected highlighted interpretative elements related to a condition of uncertainty caused by the pandemic and the combination of different spaces and times. Starting from an analysis of some field notes, the article reflects on the educative opportunities opened up by the dad and on the social bonds linked to the educational relationship established by it.
