| Summary: | The aim of this study is to present some important reflections to the implementation of Protected Areas in thecentral region of Rio Grande do Sul, principally due to the presence of the Mata Atlântica Biosphere Reserve inthe cities of Santa Maria and Itaara. As an example of Protected Areas, there are the Conservation Units thatneed a management plan to maintain the attributes for their protection. Considering that Mata Atlântica is an extremelydegraded biome, it is becomes an obligation of the administrations of these cities to stimulate, throughpolitics, practices to benefit the environment. |
