description | Federal Prosecutors in Brazil work far beyond criminal prosecution because of its unique constitucional design. The majority of indigenous claims are related to the demarcation of their territories and health issues, but more recently, many complaints are related to indigenous schools. According to the legal framework, which has the parameters that must be followed by Federal Prosecutors, stablished between 1988 constitution to 2014 National Plan of Education, indigenous schools must preserve their language, traditions and creeds, and enable them to be on an equal footing with the rest of the national community. An overview of the themes of the civil inquires conducted by federal prosecutors helps to understand the current problems related to school indigenous education from school infrastructure to specific pedagogic project and material. Federal Prosecutors face many challenges to be more efficient in safeguarding an equal implementation of the legislation on school indigenous education in a national scale. |
