description Computed Tomography has greatly contributed to the analysis of the operational sequences of pottery by visualising the internal structure of vessels. It provides a complete visual of the vessel’s structure thus accessing pertinent information for its technological study, which differs from a more superficial analysis restricted to the study of the vessel’s shape and the surface marks linked to its manufacture. This new method gives us the opportunity to see objects in 3D and to understand the detail of their internal structure. Non-invasive, tomodensitometry is an alternative method of analysis, which involves the development and the study of a virtual model built from the object’s 3D scan. The information from the 3D scan is used to firstly provide information to reconstruct an image of the whole vessel or of particular sections, also in order to complete this visual analysis, a quantitative approach using mathematical software is also possible.
