description The importance of assessing the environmental impacts caused by products and activities has become more significant every year. Thereupon, an important tool that measures the potential environmental impacts is the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). Linking this tool to strategic planning can give greater support to systems based on sustainability. Therefore, the objective of this study is to review the literature of evaluations from the LCA based on strategic planning actions. For this, a review of the state of the art of the literature was elaborated in order to identify the main correlated areas, authors, research gaps and potential studies. Methodi Ordinatio was used to order the studies found in the literature. The results present a review of the literature, where the main advances were discussed, providing perspectives of the theme. In addition, the main areas that relate to the present LCA approach and strategic planning were biomass, solid waste, water systems and product development. Therefore, this study contributes to the literature, providing information to the productive sector and the academy
