Description
Summary:Mineralisation and transformation processes in soil are passing in co-operation of soil organisms and chemical and physical properties of the soil. About 80 % of the substantial transformation in soil is achieved by soil fauna and soil micro-flora. Application of pesticides or input of other anthropogenic substances may induce acute or long-term effects on the activity of soil organisms. Biological methods developed for testing soil quality are appropriate to characterize the effects to the soil ecosystem. The effects of copper loads in viniculture by application of copper containing pesticides for the control of fungal diseases is taken as an example to assess the significance of standardized laboratory tests being part of an assessment strategy for ecotoxicological characterization of soil quality.
