Sottolineando le differenze (evidenziate dagli autori cristiani), ma soprattutto le similitudini (nella legislazione), si analizzano i problemi di integrazione e di emarginazione che le ultime Vestali dovettero affrontare. Solo cosí si possono spiegare le conversioni note o presunte di alcune sacerdotesse pagane al Cristianesimo e d'altra parte la loro permanenza nel culto tradizionale. Un'indagine prosopografica di queste Vestali, basata sulle fonti letterarie ed epigrafiche, permette di comprendere meglio non solo i singoli casi, ma le stesse dinamiche evolutive di un sacerdozio pagano nel IV sec.<br /><br />SUMMARY: The study of the last vestals is related with the contemporary christian virgins. Reasserting the difference (clear in the Cristian autors) but over all the similarities (in the law), if we annalyze the integration and rejection problems that the lats vestals must confront. Only in this way can we explain the real or ficticious conversions from pagan priestesses to christianism, and their permanence in the tradidional cult. A prosographic inquiry of these vestals, based on literary and epigraphic sources, allows understand better the individual cases, and the evolutive dinamic of a pagan priesthood in the fourth century. |
