Summary:The article studies the appearance of Hatshepsut (1490-1468 BC), the female pharaoh of the XVIIIth dynasty. The authors consider famous images of the Queen in her mortuary temple in Deir El-Bahri finding out how accurately the preserved monuments could correspond to the real appearance of Hatshepsut. Reliefs and sculptures of the Queen and her emphasized connection to the cults of several gods were meant to emphasize the legitimacy of Hatshepsut’s power.
