Description
Summary:The concept of assessment in the teaching and learning of foreign languages and cultures is now subjected to numerous studies. Through this theoretical contribution, we address a highly topical type of assessment: certification assessment. This form of assessment captures the level of competence and knowledge of a foreign language, such as Italian, in the subject tested and concludes with the issuance of an internationally recognized certification by official bodies. We also familiarize ourselves with the main Italian language certifications and their characteristics, functions, and criteria by observing how language testing has been applied in a formally and officially recognized assessment context.
