Description
Summary:The article studies carpet drawings by leading Swedish artists. It is noted that modern Scandinavian design and textiles are closely related. Mid-20th century carpet designs are used as a case to study the stylistic features of textiles for public and residential interiors in Sweden. The main carpet weaving techniques used during that historical period are outlined. The authors highlight the "personalization and versatility" of Swedish textiles and the "animation" of the geometric ornament. The materials for the study were specimens of carpet weaving art presented at the Bukowski auction in the 2000s. The results of the study can be useful in the design of patterns for woven and tufted carpets and various finishing materials (ceramic tiles, laminated materials, wallpaper, etc.).
