description “Deification” or “Becoming God” is used in this article as a central hermeneutical key to understand Julius Evola’s (1898–1974) philosophic and, most importantly, esoteric work. Although the concept of deification can be found in his early work, it naturally developed itself and underwent many transfigurations, for which he employed different forms of symbolic systems. One cornerstone of his intellectual buildings has remained constant, however: the desperate endeavor to transcend the limitations of the human being. To find and teach “practical” paths to reach this goal became the supreme aim in his works.
