description Nonviolent thinking spreads in Italy in the late 1920s, thanks to Aldo Capitini. Gandhi and his method, called satyagraha, have a great reputation in Europe due to the nationalist struggle in India, but few people understand the magnitude of the Gandhian message. Aldo Capitini and Claudio Baglietto are among the very few who understand the spiritual significance of nonviolence. Baglietto will die in 1940, while Capitini will make nonviolence his whole life commitment, both culturally and socially and politically. Thanks to his tireless work, nonviolence has also taken root in Italy and continues to be nurtured.
