The role of the Suez Canal in context of regional security in the Middle East
The article considers Egypt’s geo-strategic position that has been changed as a result of commissioning of the Suez Canal. It also analyses its national interests and geopolitical aspirations of the Western countries as well as regional and non-regional powers’ competition in the Canal Zone.
