Summary:The demographic crisis in Russia at the turn of the century set a difficult sociological task of finding ways to monitor and influence the processes of population reproduction. There is an obvious development of the state demographic policy, but its effectiveness is questionable. Although the state measures partially improve the demographic situation in the country, they do not provide consistent results and their impact is quite short-term and unpredictable. The article examines the demographic situation in Russia between 1992 and 2012 and evaluates the impact of the state demographic policy on the reproduction of the population.
