description | This article aims at explaining women political representation critically at 2019 legislative election. It argues that women candidates in 2019 legislative election show two main things. First, the number of women representative in the legislative candidate list appears the same as the previous year list. Even though, all political parties have applied the same affirmative action which says that women candidates should be 30 percent among the list. Second, political party tends to disregard the affirmative action. Women are not normally put as number one in the list, only 235 people or 19 percent. Research shows that most women are put in the third, 781 women or 67 percent, and in the sixth, 572 women or 65 percent. The struggle to increase the number of women candidate at 2019 legislative election is not simple. Based on the research, problems are faced by women candidates. They are: first, instantaneous legislative regeneration by political parties. It leads to women incapability and incapacity to give contribution. Second, most political parties conduct a closed candidacy. Third, weak financial support for women candidates. Public candidatesrivalry creates financial rivalry source as well. Those are what make candidacy competition unequal between men and women. |
