description The article examines objectives of the military attack undertaken by the US, Britain and France on Syria on April 14, 2014, under the pretext of responding to the use of chemical weapons by the "Assad regime" in Eastern Ghouta. The political goals and motivations of the military action are analyzed in the context of visible and possible consequences not only for the Syrian settlement process, but rather in a broad geopolitical context. Particular attention is paid to "dilemmas of strategic partnership" between the US and Europe and the growing contradictions within the framework of transatlantic relations.
