Description
Summary:Abstract This study extends earlier studies demonstrating electoral predictions based on selected phonetic features in the names of political candidates. The current study tested modifications of the original analytical model and enlarged the data base five-fold, applying the revised model to all 1998 races for the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. The modifications did not affect the success of the model significantly, but the larger sample of data reaffirmed the model's statistical reliability.
