Summary:This study concerns a novel white–spored Agaricales collected from Darjeeling Hills (India) during the monsoon. The new species, Tricholomopsis darjeelingensis, is described based on its morphological and molecular data. It is characterized by its caespitose fruiting body, long and slender stipe, occasionally eccentric, pileus covered with dense violet fibrils, 2 – 4 spored basidia, thin–walled caespitose cheilocystidia and basidiospores globose to broadly ellipsoid, 2.9 – 4.72 – 5.9 × 2.9 – 3.93 – 4.4 μm.
