Summary: | It is well known that rainfall variability is high in arid and semiarid areas whereas in humid lands it decreases considerably. Annual rainfall variability is examined in this study for the state of Veracruz and the Gulf Coast ninety eight climatological stations having more than 15 years of record were used. Even though rainfall is abundant in the area variability values are rather high due to abnormal precipitations originated by hurricanes or other tropical disturbances. The relations between rainfall variability and land productivity is also examined. |
