description | The purpose of the study was to assess clinical effects anddynamics of the changes in the parameters of lipid peroxidationand antioxidant system in patients with acute traumatic braininjury and combined injuries treated with the peptide drug cortexin.As the result of this work, the ability of the drug to reducethe intensity of the of lipid peroxidation process in brain injurywas revealed. Clinical effect was expressed by the reduction ofasthenic symptoms, significant improvement of attention andmemory, and increase of the working capacity and the tempo ofmental activity, which was confirmed by psychometric tests. Itwas shown that cortexin use in an acute period of traumatic braininjury and combined cranio-facial injury significantly increasedthe patients quality of life, had sedative and antidepressanteffect, reduced epileptic activity and decreased the frequency ofepileptic seizures. |
