Description
Summary:The production mechanisms development and the excessive demand for positive results by employees have left marks on their physical and mental health. This article examines historical aspects of changes in the work environment and deals with the possible reasons why we experience a steady increase of mental disorders, especially depression, among workers. Finally, it indicates how the welfare state works to minimize the negative externalities arising from work, questioning whether such measures contribute, in fact, to the construction of the ideal work environment and act in favor of the worker's well being.
