Summary:This study focuses on the religious festival dedicated to São Bernardo, in Alcobaça-Ba, celebrated in the month of August, which began in 1772. Despite the cited party submits more than two centuries of existence, this research aims to analyze the changes occurring in it, either in their religious rites, is in its commercial bias from the 1990s to 2010, this time, intensification of neoliberalism and globalization in Brazil, thus investigating the extent to which the feast of São Bernardo was inserted or not in the context of socio-economic ideas and practices. In developing this study interviews were conducted with community members, collecting historical data relevant to the theme, therefore it is an analysis of the processes related to ruptures and continuities, with the (re) cultural meanings in the religious and the profane celebration dedicated to the patron.
