| Summary: | This paper presents the languages of evangelization, the interpreters and the interpretations in the religious domain of the Government of Tucumán in the period between the years 1580 and 1680. We attempt to recognize the role of native interpreters and the languages in which they worked, aspects that will enable access to some American Linguistics problems (such as Quechuization, Castilianization, survival of regional languages); also, problems related with indigenous history (possibility of considering these interpreters as true cultural mediators in the religious domain and their participation as agents in the westernization process) and evangelization (degree of compliance with the Lima Council of 1582 and the Diocesan Synod of 1597). On the other hand, we propose here that recognition of certain iterative resources in the presentation of the interpreter in religious texts will enable considerations about the pragmatic function of the discourses that mention these mediators and will offer some explanations about the elliptical character in the presentation of this agent.
