Summary:The antenna in the form of an open segment of a coaxial waveguide in the wave mode is widely used as a stand-alone emitter. The peculiarity of such an antenna is its poor coordination with free space. A dielectric quarter-wave transformer is used to improve the matching of the antenna in the form of a segment of a coaxial waveguide. The obtained formulas (1) - (5) for the calculation of the parameters of the dielectric quarter-wave transformer and the experimental data that confirm the calculations are presented, namely: active (1) and reactive (2) external conductivities of the open end of the coaxial line; the reflection coefficient of the wave in the coaxial line (4) and the efficiency (5). Table 1 shows the values of the results of calculations of geometric dimensions and the place of inclusion of the manufactured samples of dielectric quarter-wave transformers, which are confirmed experimentally. The calculated and experimentally taken graphs of the change of the standing wave voltage coefficient (SPC) in the frequency band for different types of dielectric quarter-wave transformers and antenna patterns of different sizes are presented.
