Summary: | The family production units have historically played a key role in food production and has received increased state
attention from the 1990s through the implementation of government programs and non-governmental. The theoretical
and methodological bases refer to the agrarian question, the fixing of the population in the countryside, the local
productive arrangement and the role played by the state in order to improve the population's quality of life. The article
aims to analyze public policies with emphasis on family farmers, with the spatial area north of Paraná. Preliminary
results indicate that the program has had a positive evaluation, both with regard to obtaining an alternative income and
for food safety even with the existence of problems of operation
