description In order to forewarn outburst coal in process of tunnel drifting in high outburst mine, so as to eliminate hidden dangers early and prevent disaster, building of detailed geological model of outburst coal was researched and the normal pitch between tunnelling place and outburst coal by shortest distance analytical method of GIS was calculated. On the basis of Longruan GIS3.0 and VRMine, an early warning system for danger source in process of tunnel drifting of high outburst mine was developed, 3D visualization of early warning model and forewarning evaluation were realized, and an example verification using real data of Xinzhuangzi coal mine was carried out. The results showed that early warning system for danger source in process of tunnel drifting of high outburst mine can assist safety management of coal mine.
