Description
Summary:INTRODUCTION: Workplace incivility is low intensity deviant behaviors and this type of behavior can be seen in the work environment of nurses. This research was designed to test the linguistic adaptation, reliability and validity of the Workplace Incivility Scale on nurses. METHODS: This research is a methodological study and it was conducted between February and June 2015. The scale includes a 12-item survey. It is Likert type scale and responses to each question are rated on a 5-point Likert scale. The sample of the research was composed of 120 nurses. The reliability of the scale was assessed by internal consistency and the validity is performed by construct, content and criteria validity. RESULTS: Cronbach alpha coefficient of the scale was 0.90, as a result of the internal consistency analysis repeated by removing item wasn't found a problematic item. Exploratory factor analysis is used for the construct validity of the scale and as a result of this analysis; total variance was found 60.41%. Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin for compliance data to factor analysis was found as 0.87, Barlett Sphericity test χ2 value was calculated as 751.219 (p<0.000). The correlation between the Scale and Workplace Bullying Scale was found as very advanced in the positive direction. As criteria validity, when nurse's satisfaction scores increases, observed that the scale's scores decreases. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: Turkish form of Workplace Incivility Scale which was conducted on nurses has acceptable level of validity and reliability.
