Targeted regulation of gut microbiota, such as fecal bacteria transplantation, and supplementation of probiotics/prebiotics are expected to become important means to control post-stroke pneumonia. This paper reviewed the influence of gut microbiota on post-stroke pneumonia, and its possible mechanism, as well as the effect of gut microbiota regulation in the treatment of post-stroke pneumonia, described an important neglected infectious source of post-stroke infection, in order to promote the development of targeted therapy strategies for post-stroke pneumonia.
