Because of its conditionas a mediator between two different forms of thinking, the indigenous school also represents a fertile ground to think about the western conceptions of education. This article is dedicated to a deeper reflection about some aspects of the relation between thewestern society, based on rationality and science, and the indian people in the construction of the indigenous schools.RESUMO: A educação escolar indígena, mesmo constituída dentro dos marcos legais do Estado e de uma concepção moderna de educação, demanda novas compreensões por parte da sociedade ocidental não apenas no que diz respeito à educação indígena, mas à sua própria relação com os povos indígenas. Pela sua condição de mediadoraentre duas formas de pensar distintas, a escola indígena também constitui um terreno bastante fértil para pensar a própria concepção ocidental de educação. Este artigo dedica-se a refletir mais profundamente sobre alguns aspectos da relação entre a sociedade ocidental, baseada na racionalidade e na ciência, e os povos indígenas na constituição da escola indígena. |
