Description
Summary:This article aims to analyze and synthesize the research conducted over time of scientific publications in the field of sustainable development and carbon dioxide emissions (CO2 emissions) by investigating the most relevant articles, authors, journals, countries, and organizations. We applied a quantitative research methodology by conducting a bibliometric analysis related to sustainable development and CO2 emissions. Using the VOS viewer program, we mapped this research field using co-occurrence keywords, highlighting the most important connections between these two concepts. This software graphically displayed the data and identified four clusters/research lines concerning sustainable development, economic growth, CO2 emissions, and environment. The analysis includes the most relevant 258 publications indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection database from 2000 to 2022, including 63 countries. The main findings indicate that the scientific interest in the field of sustainable development and CO2 emissions has progressively increased in the last three years (60% of the articles).
