Summary: | The purpose of this paper is to provide a methodological reflection based on the proposal of a "qualitative analysis by theory" (MUCHIELLI, 2001), This proposal provides a model methodology to capture and understand data gathered from an investigation focusing on industrial action and the possibilities of changing the workforce in a mining enclave in the state of Pará (West Amazon). To gather the necessary data, a two level map was compiled which allowed an approximation to the phenomenon from a discourse analysis of the workers and their experiences. The first level, "located activity," locates the context from the interpretation of trade unions and their members. The second level, "subjectivization of the activity," frames the analysis of the workers' subjective practices.
