The nonlinear coefficients were found by measuring the second harmonic radiation from samples under the action of an external field of terahertz pulses and by the classical z-scan technique, respectively. The influence of ambient air and helium gas on second harmonic generation was analyzed. It was demonstrated that both susceptibilities <inline-formula><math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><semantics><mrow><msup><mi>χ</mi><mrow><mfenced><mn>3</mn></mfenced></mrow></msup><mfenced><mrow><mo>−</mo><mn>2</mn><mi>ω</mi><mo>;</mo><mi>ω</mi><mo>,</mo><mi>ω</mi><mo>,</mo><mn>0</mn></mrow></mfenced></mrow></semantics></math></inline-formula> and <inline-formula><math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><semantics><mrow><msup><mi>χ</mi><mrow><mfenced><mn>3</mn></mfenced></mrow></msup><mfenced><mrow><mo>−</mo><mi>ω</mi><mo>;</mo><mi>ω</mi><mo>,</mo><mo>−</mo><mi>ω</mi><mo>,</mo><mi>ω</mi></mrow></mfenced></mrow></semantics></math></inline-formula> have close absolute values, which shows the dominant role of nonresonant electronic nonlinearity in the studied glasses.
