description | The asphalt concrete layer is a wear layer or AC-WC (Asphalt Concrete Wearing Course) is a type of pavement layer located at the top on the road surface. This layer is designed to be resistant to vehicle wheel pressure, shear force and as a protective construction underneath against damage caused by weather and water. However, over time the asphalt concrete layer that is often found in the field has not reached the design age, there have been damage such as permanent deformation, cracks, and waves that can disturb the comfort and safety of traffic users. One of the efforts to improve the quality of the laston mixture is to modify the asphalt mixture with polymer materials, namely styrofoam waste. The study aimed to determine the marshall parameters on the best use of modified asphalt styrofoam waste according to the requirements of highways. The styrofoam waste in this research was taken from the rest of the ready to eat food packaging as a substitute for part of the asphalt with a percentage of 0%, 3%, 6%, 9%, 12% and 15% with the wet and dry method. The method used in the study was Bina Marga 2010 revision 4 of 2018. The results of the study showed that for the wet method that meets the requirements of Bina Marga, the asphalt content is 5.50% with 12% styrofoam percentage and the stability value is 1000.52 Kg and dry method obtained the best results asphalt content of 5.00% styrofoam percentage 15% with a value of 1623.40 Kg. |
