Description
Summary:This article intends to shape one of the most symbolic ideas of a realistic vision of politics: the balance of power concept. To reach this objective, the writer starts explaining the assumptions where this notion takes roots. At once, he identifies the functions performed by this balance, the requirements needed for a correct performance and how it promotes the carrying out of political alliances. Finally, the author states that this balance of power has simultaneously two fundamental aims: avoiding becoming an indisputable center of power (World Empire) and preserving peace understood as a bearable armistice.
