Summary: | Since the nineteen seventies, several authors have elaborated a discourse on “risk society”, linked to mass production and new technologies. It was followed by a renewal of works based on the function of “trust” and the conditions for obtaining it, but they were not much heard. Standing out since the end of the nineteen nineties is the head-on opposition between knowledge and innovation society on the one hand, and risk society on the other. However, the study of law reveals numerous attempts to bridge the gap between the two opposite points of view. Based on the example of GMOs and especially the obligation of traceability imposed on them, I will show the search for a society of trust –and the failure to make it real up to now. |
