| description | Throughout the centuries, human activities have always generated different kinds of waste, and this has become a significant problem which nowadays is considered as one of the main polluters of the environment. The term waste management is gaining importance as a way of providing an efficient solution for this problem. Data from the EU-28 shows that nearly one third of the total waste produced is attributed to mining activities. This paper focuses on the waste generated by the mining industry in the case of the Republic of Serbia. Considering that Serbia is in the process of becoming an EU member state, there are several ongoing projects which aim to enhance and reach a level of sustainable development in the respective field. As an example, a project which is currently being implemented will be covered in this research, namely - "Cadastre of mining waste". |
