description The situation of women in the Church poses a series of challenges in the various spheres of institutional life; one of the most important is the management of power and, more specifically, the understanding of abuse from a gender perspective. From the scientific literature - both psychological and theological - we can understand that, if we really want to name and characterize the experiences of abuse of power that women live within religious institutions, it is necessary to expand the frontiers of what we have understood about sexual abuse. In this paper we will explore, from the perspective of Moral Theology, some of the categories necessary to take this step: positional vulnerability, personal vulnerability, consent and professional ethics. These categories will be discussed referring to specific cases of the Latin American context.
